BLUEGRASS &
STAINED GLASS
Christmas Concert

DECEMBER 16, 2017
3:00 PM
24 Tate Ave.
Lebanon, Virginia 24266

Come hear the bluegrass music of the featured "Monk Family and Friends" at this Bluegrass and traditional Christmas music concert to be held in the stained-glass sanctuary of the beautiful Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church, 24 Tate Ave., Lebanon (Russell County), Virginia.

Great Bluegrass songs like The Beautiful Star of Bethlehem and standard Christmas songs like Joy to the World will intertwine in a moving and joyous tapestry of praise for the birth of the Christ Child.  Banjos, guitars, trumpets, church steeple chimes, etc. -- and sing-alongs accompanied by the large church organ - - will enthrall lovers of Bluegrass and traditional music alike.

A free 20-minute guided tour of the sanctuary and foyer stained glass windows will be provided following the concert for those who might be interested.

The concert is expected to last about 60-70 minutes.  You will be on the road back home well before dark.

The church is located in the center of the small downtown Lebanon area and it seats about 300 people.  It is handicapped-accessible (on the Owens Funeral Home side), and all are welcome to attend.

Parking in local area business parking lots is permitted where you see “Church Parking” or “Event Parking” signs (parking for church events is always permitted in the lot behind TruPoint bank).  You can also park on the street.  Special additional spaces marked for handicapped parking will be made available close to the church’s handicapped side entrance.

Concert admission and all parking are free.  Dress is casual.  [To inquire about very extreme icy weather cancelations, use contact info below.]

Do not let this Christmas go by without a family adventure in music and worship.  This event is going to be definitely upbeat, worshipful, and music-oriented (no sermon).   However, the concert planners do hope you might return to the church for the next day’s regular services (for the season’s holiday service schedule or go to http://lebanonmemrial.org).

DIRECTIONS:  The church is located at 24 Tate Avenue [until recently, Tate Street] in the Appalachian town of Lebanon, VA.  It can be reached easily down four-lane highways from Abingdon, VA, on State Route 19 North.
FROM ABINGDON VA AND INTERSTATE 81:  The town of Lebanon itself is about a 30-minute or less easy drive from I-81 in Abingdon.  Take Exit 17 off Interstate 81 and head west into Abingdon until the road ends at the light at Valley Street, then take a left.  You will quickly reach a three-way stop sign.  There you turn right and continue until you dead-end into a stoplight on Route 19.  Turn right (19 North) and drive about 22 minutes or so to the first Lebanon exit (“Exit 1”).  Turn left off that exit’s ramp onto “Business 19” and continue about five-minutes through town until you reach the small downtown area and then turn right onto Church Avenue just past the old Russell Movie Theater on the right -- a tall military statue can also be seen in the middle of Church Avenue going to the right.  The large Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church will be immediately visible in the center of the street where Tate Avenue splits off from Church Avenue.  (NOTE:  The church is also about one short block before you reach the Russell County Medical Center, 58 Carroll Street.)

CONTACT INFO:  For any further information, please email Associate Pastor Gary Crum anytime at
garycrum@aol.comor call the church office M-F 9-4 at 276 889 2721.  [By the way, a free 20-minute tour of the church's main floor and balcony windows will be given following the concert.]
